2007 Glorious Gardens Contest

We are proud to report that North Shore Garden Club member Gerry Bellanca and her husband Jim won “Best Overall Garden” in the Chicago Tribune’s 11th annual Glorious Gardens Contest.  A panel of four judges selected one “garden of the week” each week throughout the summer.  Awards were based upon 50% aesthetic appeal of the garden and 50% creativity and presentation.  At the end of the summer, each weekly winner was considered for best overall garden.  Congratulations Gerry!

90th Anniversary

The North Shore Garden Club recently celebrated its 90th anniversary (July 2006) at the home of member Lisa Goldman with a beautiful luncheon planned by Renee Kahn and Jan Holzheimer. The luncheon also was a thank-you for all the volunteers that worked at this year’sGarden Walk. Vice-President Joan Gand donated a beautiful and delicious cake for the celebration.

Also at the luncheon, President Harriet Burnstein announced that after 10 years, she is ready to pass the torch. The nominating committee chose our new president, Lee Frank, who accepted the position, and starts in September, 2006.
